Hello Games and 505 Games have today announced that No Man’s Sky will be coming to Xbox One later this year in the form of No Man’s Sky Next.
505 Games is set to publish the previously PS4 exclusive title worldwide which will come with a bunch of new content. No Man’s Sky Next is currently deep in development and will act as a free update for existing players on PlayStation 4 and PC in addition to its full launch on Xbox One.
No Man’s Sky launched back in August 2016 to quite the controversy. While many expected a vast open universe for players to explore, what they found was a pretty empty and repetitive game. What’s more, the game had no multiplayer elements at all, despite what was previously stated.
Since then, Hello Games have been hard at work bringing new features to the game such as base building, land vehicles, and lately some form of multiplayer, though it’s not quite as players expected.
“We are calling this No Man’s Sky NEXT because it is an important next step in a journey for No Man’s Sky, for Hello Games and for our devoted community.” said Sean Murray, founder at Hello Games. “Each update for No Man’s Sky has been more successful than the last; this was especially true of our last update Atlas Rises. It emboldens the team to push ourselves further. This journey is far from over, and it’s exciting to be working again on something you know will surprise people.”
The Xbox One release will mark the game’s debut on the platform, however there’s currently no release date other than “later in 2018”. The game will include all of the content to date, as well as whatever will be available in the Next update.
