PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is set to get a handful of limited time modes for players to dive in that’ll mix up gameplay from the usual battle royale affair.
Remember when one company got a little annoyed because another company who happened to own an engine one company built their game on decided to “copy” their formula? I am of course talking about the time Bluehole had a shitfit because Epic Games, who owns Unreal Engine (the engine PUBG is built upon) launched Fortnite Battle Royale.
Well it looks like the shoe is on the other foot as PUBG is set to get some limited time game modes, much like Fortnite Battle Royale, that’ll offer unique game modes with different rule sets.
The first Event Mode, as they’re calling it, is one which pits eight players against each other with an increased chance of finding a rifle. Lovely.
“The first iteration of the Event Mode will be a very simple one, as the system was only recently put together and we need to test the basics first,” the studio wrote in a blog post. “We know it’s not a huge change from the public matches but as mentioned above, this is just to get things rolling. The future of the Event Mode holds exciting things!”
What could that consist of? Well anything, really. Cars Only or Melee Weapons Only, Silenced Weapons, Low Gravity, Headshots Only… the possibilities are endless. I guess.
