A foreboding eclipse, some jungle parkour, scaling a giant cliff side, and some ominous aztecy temples?! Looks like we will be getting a new Tomb Raider!
Today Square Enix released an extremely brief, high octane teaser for the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider game. While the footage was short, we did get a release date for later this year, September 14.
While Crystal Dynamics mainly worked on the first two games, their transition to the upcoming Avengers title has left the responsibility with Eidos Montreal. The studio that gave us Thief and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be helming the new Tomb Raider installation. This is potentially good and bad news. A new team taking the reigns on a final, third installment, AND the conclusion to a trilogy is a lot to fulfill. However, they could knock it out of the park and it could be a really fantastic ending for Lara’s origin story. We will just have to wait and see.
The fact that this one isn’t a console exclusive is pretty exciting as well. Sadly, Sony fans won’t have any bragging rights or privileges this time around. You can check out the exciting teaser trailer below, and expect a follow up to this article when the full announcement drops on April 27!
