It’s been suggested that a brand new BioShock game is currently in development by a “top-secret” studio located near Mafia 3 developer Hangar 13.
In a Kotaku article from last week, which addresses the state of Hangar 13, there was a snippet of information alluding to a brand new BioShock game being in development. In the article, a top-secret studio located “next door” to the studio is in the early stages of development on a new BioShock game.
“Next door, a small group of people were working on a project code-named Parkside, quietly recruiting from across the video game industry for a game so secret, they wouldn’t even tell their colleagues at Hangar 13 about it,” the report reads. “Word got out, though, that it was in fact a new game in one of the most interesting shooter franchises of the past decade: BioShock.”
The article continues to note that the project is pretty small as they try to work out what the core part of the game is, and that each staff member has something to do. The article then dives deep into Hangar 13’s current troubles with layoffs and loss of leadership which has put the spanner in the works at the studio.
As for BioShock, it’s currently unknown which studio is taking lead on development. Creator Kevin Levine shut down Irrational Games in 2014 and has since started a new studio.
