PUBG Corp. has announced that it will be hosting the first Official E-Sports Tournament for Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds this Summer.

The event is set to take place in Berlin, with 20 professional teams fighting to take home a $2 million prize pool. The tournament is set to take place between July 25-29. Teams will need to qualify by participating in regional tournaments, these will be hosted in North America, Europe and Asia.

More information is yet to come regarding the tournament process, but we know that two teams will be selected as the world champions, one champion for first-person perspective, and the other for third-person perspective. That sounds a little bit stupid to us personally…

This isn’t the first dive into competitive PUBG, last year, the Gamescom Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Invitational took place with a $350,000 prize pool, and brought some of the major E-sports teams to the title, as well as some controversy around the addition of Lootboxes that raised a lot of controversy with fans.

With more information to come, we’ll keep you updated on whats sure to be the E-Sports event of the year…
