Sony Pictures and Rovio Entertainment have announced that they’re making a sequel to The Angry Birds Movie.
While we haven’t had new Angry Birds game for some time, Rovio are keen to keep the property in the limelight and what better way than with another Angry Birds movie? Sony Pictures will once again be producing the flick and it’ll once again have some pretty big names attached.
The first film’s initial cast will return for the sequel including Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Bill Hader, Danny McBride and Peter Dinklage. The movie will be directed by Adventure Time director Thurop Van Orma and Rick and Morty‘s John Rice with John Cohen returning as producer.
The movie has been pegged for a September 20, 2019 release.
While you’re probably wondering why another movie is being made, it’s probably worth noting that the movie opened at number one in 50 different countries back in May 2016 and earned $352 million at the global box-office.

Whether or not this will be a saving grace for the Finnish company is another question. What’s more, its London studio which opened a little over a year ago, took a hit and was closed.
