Why the Power Rangers: Shattered Grid Trailer Shows Promise

Shattered Gird is with us as Boom! Comics have kicked off their first Power Rangers mega event in style!

In case you missed it, Shattered Grid is a new storyline taking place in Boom’s line of Power Ranger comics which sees an evil version of Tommy Oliver (The Green Ranger, White Ranger, White Ninjetti Ranger, Red Zeo Ranger, Red Turbo Ranger, and Black Dino Thunder Ranger) from a parallel universe trying to wipe every Power Ranger ever.

Don’t worry, we won’t be spoiling what took place in issue 25 which saw the event kick off. No, I want to talk about the trailer:

Jason David Frank reprises his role (kind of) as Tommy Oliver preparing to embark on the quest to wipe out every Ranger ever. With the aid of some very talented cosplayers who created the suits used in the trailer and using the props from the original show, you’ve got yourself a trailer.

This trailer proves to me and hopefully Saban that they could produce some longer Power Ranger content for the comic book readers and fans from the earlier shows. I mean think about it, the fanbase could come together for this one, and I’m sure most of the actors from the previous shows would be interested.

In terms of costumes, you can get some cosplayers to make up some costumes. The sets and props are clearly still floating around somewhere as well. If you need someone to film, why not Bat in the Sun? The dudes that do the superhero beatdown show which has even featured Jason David Frank and have created Ninjak vs The Valiant Universe.

According to a recent Facebook post, the team did a pitch to Saban five years regarding an older Tommy Oliver doing battle with a new foe. Head over to their Facebook Page checks out the cool concept artwork they used.

So you’ve got a team on board with the interest. Just imagine if Saban did acknowledge all these things they’ve got at their disposal and did a Machinima-style series akin to Street Fighter Assassin’s Fist or that Mortal Kombat series?

I would call that Morphinominal.
