Fortnite is set to get a pretty big focus at E3 2018, Epic Games has announced, from a dedicated live stream to a huge booth in the Los Angeles Convention Centre.
When the floor plans for E3 2018 appeared online, Epic Games had a pretty big portion of the South Hall and now we know why: Fortnite. Though that revelation is hardly unsurprising, Epic Games has revealed exactly what’s in store for fans of the popular shooter.
From June 12 to June 14 attendees of E3 will be able to play Fortnite and be in with the chance of winning some prizes and fill their face with snacks. In addition, Epic has announced that it’ll be holding a Fortnite Celebrity Pro-Am which will see popular streamers and celebrities team up in a doubles tournament. At the event over $3 million in prize money will be up for grabs, a figure that’s separate from the $100 million Epic Games announced earlier this week.
The $3 million prize pool will be offered to a charity of the winners choosing.
There’ll be a total of 50 professional players and 50 celebrities competing in the event including Ninja and Marshmello, Myth and Paul George, and Markiplier and Joel McHale. The event will be a ticketed event at $10 a pop, though tickets are being sent out as invitations to those who live in Los Angeles. Around 3,000 tickets will be available and will be emailed out in waves.
If that wasn’t enough, Epic Games is holding a “Party Royale” on the evening of June 12. Tickets to this invite-only event will be offered out as prizes to those who visit the Fortnite booth on the show floor.
Fortnite and it’s Battle Royale game mode are still in beta, so there’s a good chance Epic Games may finally be announcing the official release date for its Save the World campaign. Eventually the entire game will be free to play.
