Update (14/05 @ 3:33): Blizzard has officially confirmed that Overwatch‘s Anniversary Event will indeed begin on May 22 and all skins from all previous events will be available to players throughout the event.
There’ll also be over 50 new cosmetic items coming to the game including eight Legendary skins and three epic skins and new dance emotes for Doomfist, Moira, and Brigitte.
The update will also bring with it a brand new Deathmatch map, Petra, as well as a brand new competitive mode for Deathmatch that’ll feature placement matches, skill ratings, and leaderboards.
Finally, a free weekend is also set to take place on the weekend of the anniversary (May 25 through May 29) which will give everyone a good chance to dive in. Then maybe they’ll buy the new Legendary Edition which was also announced that offers sets of Legendary, Epic, and Origin skins for a total of 15 skins with purchase.
Until then, you can always purchase the new Mercy Charity Skin to support Breast Cancer Research.
Original Story: Overwatch‘s second anniversary is just around the corner and thanks to a leak over on reddit, we have some idea when it’ll start and what it’ll include.
The games’ Second Anniversary takes place on May 24 so it comes as no surprise that Anniversary Event has leaked ahead of the actual announcement. The event’s trailer, which first appeared on the Brazillian Overwatch account and was since re-uploaded on reddit, includes a number interesting things, namely Junkrat’s pirate skin.
The event is set to take place on May 22 according to the trailer.
In the video, you’ll see Junkrat and Roadhog dancing as they flip between several of the game’s skins. It also confirms that brawls from the previous event will make a return. There’s also hints that every skin from every event since the game’s launch, will also become available.
It’s likely we’ll see our first-look at Junkrat’s new skin as well as whatever other skins will be announced, in the coming days.
