Today during a Pokémon live stream, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company revealed that generation 8 of the Pokémon series will arrive on the Nintendo Switch in 2019.

During a live stream held in Tokyo this morning, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company announced that the next entry into the Pokémon series which was teased at E3 2017 will be arriving on the Switch in 2019.

Unfortunately little details as to what we can expect from the next entry into the main RPG series were revealed however they did announce three other games coming to the Switch in 2018.

The first is Pokémon Quest which launched today on the Nintendo eShop. The second two are Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! which are inspired by Pokémon Yellow and introdude Pokémon GO mechanics into the game.

“We’re also hard at work on another Pokemon core RPG designed for Nintendo Switch,” said series director Junichi Masuda during the presentation. “It’s being designed simultaneously with Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!” adding that “Today I can only tell you of its existence, but I can assure you that there’s another game that we’re pouring a lot of our energy into over at Game Freak.”
