Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (writers, A Quiet Place) are finalizing a deal to adapt Stephen King’s short story The Boogeyman to film with 20th Century Fox. Shawn Levy Dan Levine and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps Entertainment are on board to produce if a deal can be reached.
This is the most recent television or film option for King’s vast library. This will be the first feature-length adaptation of this King tale, though it has been adapted into short films no less than seven times and has even made it as an Indie play.
The Boogeyman is a short story about a man’s family which may or may not be plagued by that childhood demon, the Boogeyman. It was first published in 1973 and collected in 1978; if you would like a “sneak preview” of the potential film, check out the King short story collection Night Shift.
At this time, nothing else is known about the potential adaptation.
