As part of Sony’s pre-E3 2018 announcements, Bandai Namco and DONTNOD Entertainment have announced Twin Mirror, a new narrative adventure game coming in 2019.
Twin Mirror is a psychological thriller from DONTNOD Entertainment, the creators of Life is Strange and the recently released action RPG, Vampyr, that’ll will wrap players in another player-driven experience featuring a “malleable narrative”.
The game tells the tale of Sam, a 33-year-old investigative journalist suffering from a recent break up while returning home to bury an old friend. Things take a dramatic turn however, as Sam wakes one morning in his motel covered in blood with no memories of the previous night. As comes natural to Sam, his investigative journalism instincts kick in and he seeks the truth behind what happened.
Twin Mirror is set to feature “gut-wrenchingly impactful choices” as players get closer to the truth and their place in the game’s world.
“Twin Mirror is a game heavily rooted in the concept of duality, redemption and self-acceptance and is on track to deliver a stunning emotional journey” said Oskar Guilbert, DONTNOD’s CEO. “While we were scripting the player’s investigations within the game, we suddenly found ourselves researching just how far the limits of the Narrative Adventure genre could be pushed in the real world. When the dust settled, all evidence pointed towards Twin Mirror being a stunning emotional journey. Now, we can’t wait to see how the players react when all the pieces of their investigation fall into place within the game.”
If Life is Strange is anything to go by, Twin Mirror is set to be a pretty impactful title with some pretty jaw dropping moments, and honestly, I can’t wait. Check out the game’s debut trailer below:
Twin Mirror will be available in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
