In an interview with Eurogamer, Bioware’s Mark Gamble has revealed that Mass Effect still has a future, despite the studio being all up in Anthem right now.
During the interview, Gamble made it very clear that the series isn’t dead despite it’s last release, Mass Effect: Andromeda being a black mark on the franchise. Gamble was quick to state that he’s “proud of the team behind” Andromeda, despite admitting that it was lacking in the “focus, polish, visual fidelity” area.
“As much as we have various projects in the works and there’s a team working on Dragon Age stuff right now, and Mass Effect is certainly not dead, Anthem is different and we have to highlight those differences, of which co-operative play is a big difference,” he said.
Though Anthem is clearly going to be BioWare’s focus for the time being, it’s certainly good to hear that they’ll be returning to Mass Effect in the future. Though the cynic in me does worry that if Anthem bombs, EA will close the Studio. Then again if Anthem is a success, BioWare will just become the Anthem studio.
Who knows what the future will hold for BioWare and their franchises. Is the draw of more Mass Effect a good thing, or does everyone just want to fly around in Anthem now? Let us know in the comments below.
