Crackdown 3 won’t be launching this year according to sources speaking with Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, contradicting earlier comments from Microsoft.
Earlier this week Microsoft reassured Crackdown 3 fans that the game has not been cancelled or delayed. So it comes as somewhat of a surprise that reports are now suggesting that the game will be pushed into 2019.
Speaking with Schreier, two sources who wanted to remain anonymous claimed that the game would now be launching far later than expected. The game was first announced in 2014 and eventually had a planned release around the launch of the new Xbox One X. November 2017 came and went pretty quickly and Microsoft pushed the release back further to “spring 2018”.
Seeing as we’re about to enter Summer and Crackdown 3 still hasn’t launched, many expected that the game would be pushed back even further, or delayed. To make matters worse, Amazon Brazil began to cancel pre-orders of the game. Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg addressed the situation saying that the error is on Amazon’s side and that “the team continues to work hard on the game for our fans”.
If true, this would be massively disappointing as Crackdown is a pretty fantastic series and we’re desperately looking forward to the third.
