At Microsoft’s Xbox E3 2018 press conference we were given a first look at not one, but three new Gears of War games.
Kicking off the Gears of War hype the first trailer was a bit of a bizarre one as it opened with the Gears logo, only to have it ripped down by none other than a Funko POP! version of Adam Fenix. Fenix was then joined by two other POP! characters who were set to face off against three POP! enemies. This is Gears POP!.
Gears POP is an upcoming mobile title that’ll blend Funko’s POP vinyls with Gears of War. It looks interesting, but it wasn’t the next Gears game players’ hoped for.
Luckily that wasn’t all as Rod Fergusson, studio head at The Coalition, came on stage and introduced us to a PC exclusive title Gears Tactics. This game is an XCOM-style turn-based tactics game set in the Gears of War universe. Again, this wasn’t the Gears game players hoped for.
Then it happened. Fergusson introduced Gears 5, the fifth main entry into the Gears of War franchise. Gears 5 is set to arrive in 2019 and will see fan favourite Kait Diaz return but this time as the main protagonist. It looks like a pretty exciting entry into the series, but don’t let me convince you, below you’ll find the announcement and cinematic trailer for the game:
