During the Xbox E3 2018 media briefing a new trailer from DONTNOD Entertainment appeared to announce The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, a new game in the Life is Strange universe.
In the trailer we saw the iconic Life is Strange art style and sound track but this time with a new character, a young boy named Chris with a vivid imagination. In the game players will bear witness to all of his adventures as he wants to become a super hero. But this adventure is unlike any, it’s a truly “extraordinary” adventure.
Interestingly DONTNOD and Square Enix have called this game an “all-new narrative experience demo”, so I guess it’s not a new series after all, just a short taster of things to come. In the same press release Square Enix confirmed that this is not Life is Strange 2 but a lead up to the new series adding that “the episode is a self-contained narrative experience allowing players to discover plenty of hidden secrets with each play-through.”
Interestingly The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit will feature links to Life is Strange 2. According to the game’s website: “This is the first step into the diverse world of Life is Strange beyond Arcadia Bay where you will find secrets and hints as to what to expect in Life is Strange 2. In addition to this, choices & actions you make in Captain Spirit will carry over to Life is Strange 2.”
There’s also word that choices you make in Captain Spirit will carry over to Life is Strange 2.
The game is set to launch on Xbox One, PS4, and Xbox One on June 26 absolutely free.
