Jumanji 3 is officially happening, actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has announced, also revealing that one character will die.
You read that right, the reboot and pseudo-sequel of the 1995 movie is getting its own sequel that’ll see the characters from the first, return, but one won’t stick around for too long. It’s worth noting that Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle didn’t disappoint either, becoming Johnson’s most successful movie, ever.
Anyway, Johnson has taken to Instagram to announce that the third movie, or the first official sequel, is currently in production and that writer/director Jake Kasdan will be returning for the film. He also (hopefully) jokes that Kevin Hart “dies in the first 15 seconds of the movie.”
Though as we learned from the first movie, players can die, and will respawn up to three times. Once those three lives have been depleted, it’s game over for good. So Hard could surely die, but not permanently.
Ladies, gents and children of all ages.. The JUMANJI SEQUEL is officially underway. Holy shit what a dynamite pitch from our writer/director Jake Kasdan. We couldn’t stop laughing and most importantly – like our first JUMANJI – the HEART in our story is our anchor. Writing with Jake, are our original JUMANJI writers Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. Back to produce is my twin, Matt Tolmach and myself, @danygarciaco & @hhgarcia41. And sorry for the spoiler but @kevinhart4real dies in the first 15 seconds of the movie, to what I’m assuming will be a HUGE standing ovation from the audience and the cast @karengillanofficial @jackblack @nickjonas 😂 #TheSmolderReturns #SevenBucksProds #SONY #JUMANJI
Johnson also hints that co-stars Karen Gillian, Jack Black, and Nick Jonas will return, though there is no official confirmation right now. The sequel is however set to hit theatres in December 2019.
