That’s right, Sony has announced Tetris Effect which will be coming to PS4 and PSVR later this year. The game is being designed by Tetsuya Mizuguchi who you may know is behind titles such as Rez Infinite. As you might expect, this title is a new spin on the classic game. Sure, you still have to make rows of blocks, but this time it’ll tickle all the senses.
Tetris Effect hopes to fill your eyes with colour, ears with music, and heart with nostalgic love as you try and figure out how to fit that T-shaped piece into the mess you’ve made below while being distracted by particle effects, throbbing lights, and many other distractions.
There will be more than 30 stages for you to get through all in beautiful 4K on the PS4 Pro, and VR with the PSVR.
Admittedly, there are a number of new modes coming to Tetris Effect which do seem quite interesting, like the new Zone mechanic, which allows you to stop time giving you the chance to fine-tune your game. Of course, classic modes like Marathon, Sprint, and Ultra modes will also be returning.
With Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s involvement, you know that this is going to be a pretty spectacular feat of visuals, so I guess there’s that. Though at the end of the day, it’s Tetris.
