ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove is on target to launch this fall on consoles and PC, developer HumanNature Studios has announced.
ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove was successfully crowdfunded back in 2015 and has since been in development at HumanNature studios. However people were getting a little worried about just how long it’s taking, but never fear it looks to be back on track and has a closed beta planned.
The closed beta for the game is set to take place on July 5 and will run through to July 19 and will be limited to just 2500 of the game’s Kickstarter backers who opted for the higher tears of $60 and up.
HumanNature also announced that they would now be self publishing the title. This comes after the news that Adult Swim Games would be publishing the game. In a statement, studio founder Greg Johnson revealed that this was due to a number of other summer releases over at Adult Swim, and wanted to ensure the game didn’t suffer any more delays.
“Going forward Adult Swim Games is no longer going to be our publisher. Instead we are going back to self-publishing! Adult Swim Games has some other big titles they plan to launch this summer so when Back in the Groove pushed back, we both agreed that it made sense for them to hand us the reigns, rather than taking a chance on this getting pushed back any more. Also I’d like to say how deeply grateful I and all of us here at HNS are to Adult Swim Games. We wouldn’t have gotten this game to this point without them…seriously. Thank You Adult Swim!!”
So there you have it, ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove is set to land on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this fall!
