With the announcement from SEGA last week that Yakuza 3, 4 & 5 would be getting the PS4 remaster treatment, fans in the West were taken aback by the lack of mention of a western release.
Thankfully we can all have a collective sigh of relief, as SEGA’s chief creative officer, Tishihiro Nagoshi, has given the western public a ray of hope.
Taken from the recent SEGA live stream, Nagoshi-san said that the remasters are intended for new overseas fans. Obviously this isn’t a confirmation that we’ll be getting them, but after the success of Yakuza 0, there’s definitely been a huge interest jump in the Yakuza series over in the west.
Seeing as we’ve got Yakuza Kiwami 2 on the horizon, there doesn’t seem to be any let up in SEGA sending over the Yakuza games.
Though the timelines for Yakuza releases are a little off in the West, with us generally being two years behind Japan, Yakuza 3, 4 & 5 all had Western releases, so the localisations should already be complete, so you’d hope that would factor into the speed of the release.
I suppose the next debate is, do you think these remasters will come as a collection, or do you think SEGA will release them individually? Let us know what you think in the comments!
