What is a Netflix show? A miserable little pile of secrets. But enough talk, watch Castlevania!
While Konami seems content with doing sweet fuck all with it’s classic Castlevania series (Lord of Shadows should be quickly forgotten), Netflix seems to be keen to do the opposite, as they’ve just dropped the trailer for season 2 for their Castlevania animated series.
With season 2 during ever closer, Netflix has treated to the fans to a trailer, as something to sink their fangs in to. While fans enjoyed the first season of Castlevania, the main gripe was it’ length, as the show was measly 4 episodes long. Thankfully season 2 is set to be double the length as it’ll, thankfully, be 8 episodes long.
The synopsis for Castlevania makes for an interesting read:
“Returning to Netflix for a second season, Castlevania, inspired by the classic video game series, is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepes himself. Trevor Belmont, last survivor of his house, is no longer alone, and he and his misfit comrades race to find a way to save humanity from extinction at the hands of the grief-maddened Dracula and his sinister vampire war council.”
The show seems to be loosely based around Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse, as the Belmont in the show, is Trevor Belmont. It also features the characters of Sypha Belnades and the enigmatic Alucard (spell it backwards, what do you get?), who are first introduced in Castlevania 3. While Grant was nowhere to be seen in season 1, perhaps he’ll appear in season 2 to round out the crew as they journey to defeat Dracula.
What we do know, is that season 2 won’t be the end of the show, as a third season has already been confirmed.
