Dead Island 2 is still happening, confirms publisher Deep Silver, following the announcement of Dead Island Survivors, a tower defense game for mobile.
Dead Island 2 was announced at E3 2014 with Yager Development at the helm, since then Yager was taken off the project and in 2016 Sumo Digital took over. From here we’ve heard sweet nothings from Sumo or Deep Silver about the game’s development. Then there was a glimmer of hope.
Dead Island: Survivors was announced, a spin-off mobile title which has players defending their island from the zombie outbreak using traps and all manner of other deterrents. It wasn’t the Dead Island game people wanted, but it has given us hope that the franchise isn’t dead.
In a Tweet, the official Dead Island account confirmed that Dead Island 2 is still in development and that they’ll have more to share soon.
