IO Interactive has announced a competition in the lead-up to the release of Hitman 2: If you preorder the game, you are given a ‘Sniper Challenge mode’, in which you have to kill numerous targets in the most creative ways possible using 47’s trusty sniper rifle.
IO have declared that whoever gets the highest score in Hitman: Sniper Assassin, the standalone title launched during E3 (which players instantly receive with pre-orders), by November 6 will end up getting their name and likeness included in some Hitman 2 content.
This is not the first time that IO have used some creative marketing to build hype for their game. For the last Hitman entry, they held a poll over who the public wished to assassinate (in-game) more: Gary Cole or Gary Busey. The public decided for good old Gary Busey, and he became a target in their Elusive Target content.
Since we have quite a long wait until November 6, it is no doubt that some people are going to pull off some truly astounding performances to get their likeness in the game. For the rest of us who inevitably lose, at least we may get the satisfaction of shooting that nerdy bastard through the head a few times once they are included in the game.
Hitman 2 is going to be released on November 13 this year on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
