Japan Cuts, one of the largest Japanese film festivals in North America, has recently posted its full schedule online.
Over the course of ten days, a wide variety of films will be shown at Japan Cuts, ranging from experimental shorts, documentaries, feature-length live-action films and even anime. Some standouts are Radiance, which won an award at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, Mori, the Artist’s Habitat, and the live action Bleach movie. Many of these films have special events such as Q&A sessions attached to them. The complete program can be viewed here.
There will also be special guests attending Japan Cuts too, including the actress Kirin Kiki (Mori, The Artist’s Habitat), who will be receiving the Cut Above Award for Outstanding Performance in Film. The special guests will include actors, filmmakers, animators, screenwriters, and many more representatives of the wide variety of roles found in filmmaking. A full list of special guests can be found here.
Japan Cuts will be held at the Japan Society in New York City from July 19 through July 29. Although the all-access pass for this event is sold out, special three-film passes and single-film passes are still available for many of the films. You may purchase tickets straight from the program page.
