Kevin Smith confirmed at SDCC that the untitled Jay and Silent Bob reboot will begin filming in November, with an intended release in 2019.
Jay and Silent Bob, played by Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith respectively, first appeared in Smith’s directorial debut and indie classic Clerks. From there, the two bumbling stoners appeared in a range of good and not-so-good Kevin Smith films, even receiving their own movie Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
They have not appeared on-screen together since Clerks II all the way back in 2006. The plot of the latest film is seemingly identical to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, with the pair trying to stop the filming of a ‘Bluntman and Chronic’ movie since the characters are based upon their likenesses. No doubt, the repetitive nature of this will be satirizing Hollywood’s fad of rebooting aging franchises.
Beyond this, we don’t know all that much about the film. Hopefully, we will see more unfold once we reach November.
