2K Games apparently aren’t satisfied with dominating the basketball video game scene with their NBA 2K series and have announced that they’ll be publishing NBA Playgrounds 2.
Saber Interactive’s NBA Playgrounds brought light-hearted arcade 2 on 2 sports action to the court as players take control of bobble-headed versions of some of the sport’s most popular players who together make some ridiculously over the top shots to come out on top. Now, there’s a second game on the cards.
While details are thin about what’s in store for NBA Playgrounds 2, or which players will be turned into bobblehead versions of their former selves, we do know that it’ll be joining NBA 2K as 2K games will be publishing the game.
“The original NBA Playgrounds was a fantastic throwback to the glory days of arcade-action sports,” said Greg Thomas, President, Visual Concepts. “The new NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 will step up this energy and attitude big time – with a bit of added NBA 2K flair – giving fans of both franchises an exciting new way to game with friends around the world.”
“No one is more committed to bringing fans a great basketball experience than 2K. We can’t wait to share more on how we’re teaming up to make NBA 2K Playgrounds 2’s incredible arcade action bigger and better than ever for players,” said Saber CEO Matt Karch.
NBA 2K Playgrounds 2, as it’ll be called, is set to land in autumn this year on Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and PC.
