Futuristic thriller, State of Mind, is set to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on August 15, 2018, publisher Daedalic Entertainment has announced.
Set in 2048, State of Mind takes a glimpse at the future world we’ll live in as players take the role of journalist Richard Nolan whose life is slowly falling apart as his wife and child have disappeared and his memories are slowly fading.
Interestingly the game offers a fairly retro-style low-poly art style, a design choice which is being used to represent the fragmented nature of the world Richard lives in, which is certainly interesting.
“State of Mind is a game about transhumanism and its all-in bet on the future,” explains the game’s author, Martin Ganteföhr. “It is, however, not a game about the technology of tomorrow, but about tomorrow’s people. In the center of this narrative is the motif of separation and reunion. What happens, if the future creates fractures between body and mind? Between reality and constructs? Between biological and virtual ego?”
A trailer has also been released for State of Mind, which you can see below:
We got hands-on with State of Mind at E3 2018 and said: “State of Mind is a carefully constructed narrative with a hard-hitting and serious overtone, that sets out to acknowledge what may happen to humanity in the very near future. Every aspect of the game is constructed to make the player tackle deep and complex problems, thinking of bigger issues that may soon become more fact than fiction.”
