Stunlock Studios have announced that Battlerite Royale, their highly anticipated spin-off Battle Royale game mode will not be included in the core Battlerite game. Instead, Battlerite Royale will be it’s own Steam Early Access title.
Set to launch this September, Battlerite Royale takes the top down MOBAesque approach to the massively popular Battle Royale phenom that’s swept the gaming landscape since PUBGs early domination.
“Early on in Battlerite Royale’s development we noticed how difficult it was to align the battle royale theme with the arena mode and still ensuring the genre and gameplay to work together,” stated Johan Ilves, Marketing Director at Stunlock Studios. “Battlerite Royale has become a significantly different experience and we are now separating the games so that each of them can flourish in their own right.”
In Battlerite Royale, players won’t be riding a bus to get into the action, instead, they’ll be skydiving off the back of a gigantic dragon. Players will experience a map 30 times larger than a normal Battlerite arena map, as they scour the map to find items and consumables. Naturally, you’ll have to kill everyone you come across in an attempt to be the last champion standing.
The signature Battlerite combat is set to be retained in Battlerite Royale, with the champions you pick from all working in a unique way. While there will be several champions for players to choose from, there will be slight changes in how they function, as Battlerite Royale is different from the standard Battlerite.
