Epic Games has released the patch notes for this week’s Fortnite update and it introduces a brand new grenade, a new limited time mode, and a few other things for the Save the World campaign.
First up is the new Shockwave Grenade. With the mysterious purple cube currently causing a stir in Battle Royale, it comes as no surprise that things are starting to slip out, namely the Shockwave Grenade which, when used, can launch players “great distances” without inflicting fall damage. It can also launch players through buildings.
Other details for the Shockwave Grenade are below:
- Drops in stacks of 2, maximum stack size of 6.
- Epic Rarity.
- Can be found in Supply Drops, Vending Machines, Llamas, and chests.
This will likely be used to either bounce someone across the map to get into the storm circle in time or to simply push another player from behind their fort into the purple storm during combat.
A trailer highlighting this new grenade can be seen below:
The second new addition to Fortnite v5.30 is the new limited time mode, Solid Gold LTM. This mode will have players battling it out with all legendary weapons in both a Solid Gold and Solid Gold 50vs50 LTM. This mode is available right now.
As for Fortnite‘s Save The World campaign, we’re entering the fourth week for the Horde Challenge. This time it seems ammo is necessary as traps for players’ Horde forts won’t trigger, so you’ll have to act fast. Players who manage to complete this challenge will be awarded a Legendary Redline Ramirez for the first-time completion, though the challenge can be repeated for event tickets.
Finally, a brand new Mythic Ninja is coming to the STW campaign. This new hero will be available in the Event Store on August 29 at 8 PM ET. This new hero features a new subclass Bladestorm.
This new class comes with a new ability titled Kunai Storm in which the Ninja flips backward while throwing 15 pointed knives downwards in a 0.5 tile radius. The Ninja also comes with a new perk, Kunai Collection, Kunai Barrage, and Kunnaihilation.
Details can be found over on the game’s website.
