Microsoft’s latest Forza Horizon instalment has apparently had quite the leak recently. Thanks to Eurogamer and Imgur, the image leaked shows that we could expect some sort of Halo-themed mission in Forza Horizon 4.
Making things even more exciting is the fact that this mission seems to be themed around a classic Halo: Combat Evolved level, the Silent Cartographer! While this isn’t the first time fans will see the Warthog appearing in the Forza franchise (it first appeared in Forza Horizon 3) this IS the first time Forza has given us an entire Halo event.
The screenshot in question shows the Warthog on a beach, and in the background, you can easily spot the Halo ring as well as a Covenant ship. This screams Silent Cartographer. For those of you unfamiliar with the Halo franchise, all three of you, The Silent Cartographer was the fourth mission in Halo: Combat Evolved. It saw your character, Master Chief, traversing an island, some of the traversal involved navigating the island in a Warthog.
To make this story even juicier, back in July some fans spotted an icon on the Forza Horizon 4 map that very closely resembles a Pelican. Other fans actually downloaded the game a month earlier, in June, and datamined it, finding quite a few “Halo” labelled files.
Along with the reveal of the Warthog returning to Forza, other leaked images show a plethora of in-game events and cars, including vintage racers, David vs. Goliath, and a 1960’s collection.
While Microsoft has yet to comment on how much of this is true, the facts certainly seem strong enough to support the claims. Forza Horizon 4 is currently in development at Playground Games and set to launch on PC and Xbox One on October 2, 2018.
