Overwatch‘s annual Summer Games event is set to return this week, Kicking off August 9.

Yes, it’s that time of the year again. It’s far too hot, your PC is overheating, and you refuse to go outside because you need that D.Va skin despite the fact you don’t play Overwatch often. Sorry, that was a shot at Aaron.

For the rest of us, Overwatch’s Summer Games is the chance to pretend we’re all footballers by playing a game that doesn’t even involve kicking. Yes, that’s right, we can all expect to see Lucioball back again, and if rumours are to be believed, it’ll have a new map (or is it a pitch?) set in Busan, South Korea. It’s all kicking off this week, August 9, and will run until the end of the month.

Now what everyone cares about, are those sweet, sweet skins. Blizzard really does know how to get my money.

The first new skin coming to Overwatch is Gridironhardt Reinhardt. Yup, if anyone in the universe was gonna be a player of America’s version of the beautiful game, it would be that sexy German bastard. Too far? Fuck it who cares this skin is going to be MINE.

Next up to the plate, is Baseball-Dad Winston. Which is a much better name than Catcher Winston. looks like we’ll have to make do with names following Blizzard’s refusal to change Wrecking Ball, but this isn’t an awful skin. Kind of sad that he’s not wearing the face mask, instead opting for those sweet, sweet ‘my son’s captain of the team’ shades.

Speeding in at number 3 is Waveracer D.Va, which has Aaron giddy with excitement for his potential 4-day return to Overwatch. As with most D.Va skins in Overwatch, not a lot has really changed, and from the colour palette used, I can see this being confused with other skins at a glance.

Late to the party is Cabana Ana, which sees everyone’s favourite pensioner enjoying her Summer holidays in peace. With a sniper rifle. And inevitably a complete dickhead DPS player screaming for healing while jumping around like a flea on sugar. It’s a pretty little skin though, nice job Blizzard.

So there you have it. The Overwatch Summer Games are set to kick off this week, August 9-30, and we’ve got some new skins to look forward to. As with other events, chances are we’ll be able to grab the previous years’ skins for less and get absolutely shit all in Loot Boxes. You can keep up-to-date with the event over at the Overwatch Twitter page.
