Disney has confirmed that it’s still moving forward with the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie, currently dubbed Pirates of the Caribbean 6.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales may have failed to win over critics, but it earned a shed load of money ($794.9 million), so it comes as no surprise that Disney still seems to be going ahead with the sixth movie in the franchise. Though it could be some time until we see it.
It looks as if Disney plans to bring back Joachim Rønning to the directors chair, but considering he’s currently hard at work on Maleficent 2, it might not be until 2020 until we see the next movie, though that’s not that much of a wait considering it took 6 years for Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales to release.
Adding to this, there’s no guarantee that Johnny Depp would be returning considering the controversy surrounding that fellow, and after what we saw with James Gunn, Disney might be keeping this controversy at arms length. Though right now this is speculation.
Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is being written by Ted Elliot, Terry Rossio, and Jeff Nathanson and is apparently in the very early stages of production.
