Shenmue 3 has finally got an official release date! Arriving on PS4 and PC on August 27, 2019.

Announced by publisher Deep Silver at GamesCom 2018, fans of the Dreamcast classic are sure to rejoice. Shenmue 3 was first revealed in a 2015 Kickstarter, fans have been waiting on a date to be announced. The Kickstarter did gangbusters, where it raised $6,333,295 and had almost 70,000 backers. There was also a Slacker Backer campaign set up once the original Kickstarter had ended, just in case fans wanted to contribute some more money after the fact (which of course they did).

Ys Net, the developer of Shenmue 3, was set to launch the game in December 2017, but obviously ended up delaying the game. Deep Silver hopped onboard in August 2017 and eventually, Shenmue 3 was delayed again to 2019. Deep Silver eventually dropped a statement on their website that read:

“The extra time will be used to polish the quality of the game even further, to the high standards it deserves and release the product in the best possible timeframe.”
