Last night’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct revealed two completely new characters: Simon Belmont and King K. Rool, three new echo fighters: Dark Samus, Richter Belmont and Chrom, as well as many new stages, modes, menus and features. As if that wasn’t enough Masahiro Sakurai, creator of the legendary series, has confirmed that the already vast roster is still not complete!
During the Direct Sakurai was quoted stating that there is “still a few fighters left to announce”. Who could these mysterious pugilists be? With the inclusion of echo fighters, the possibilities are nearly endless. Ken Masters? Liquid Snake? Mike Tyson? Sora? Crash Bandicoot? It has been confirmed that all characters will be revealed before launch.
Could purple and yellow chairs represent Waluigi and Wario? One conspiracy theory that has sprung up overnight is the confirmation of Waluigi as a playable character due to this image.
It may have started off as a joke but the desperate Waluigi fans have inferred that chairs featured in the background of the August 8 Direct represent the Wario and Waluigi characters being reunited in the final game. Normally I would say that reading that much into chair colouring is ludicrous but this is Smash and nothing is too far out! Once upon a time it seemed like just having Sonic the Hedgehog in Smash was an improbable pipe dream but nothing is out of the question with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Could Waluigi be an Echo Fighter for Luigi? What else has yet to be revealed? Only time will tell.
Not long to go now! Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out December 8 2018 for Nintendo Switch.
