At Gamescom, Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco have announced The Dark Pictures Anthology, with the first game The Dark Pictures – Man Of Medan launching in 2019.
From the studio that brought us the spine-tingling and gorgeously cinematic choice-based game Until Dawn, Supermassive Games recently announced it’s the newest project to terrify us with at Gamescom.
The Dark Pictures Anthology is a series of standalone stories that will begin releasing sometime in 2019. The first story up, The Dark Pictures – Man Of Medan, centers around a group of friends looking to go diving and explore a WW2 Plane Wreck. But if you’ve ever had the chance to play Until Dawn, then you know that Supermassive Games are the pros of plot twists when it comes to horror.
Nothing is ever what it at first seems. One minute you’re laughing it up at typical horror movie teens and then before you know it you have little idea what’s going on – you’re just bloody terrified and barely keeping everyone alive.
While The Dark Pictures – Man Of Medan is only the first entry announced so far, the fact that it’s an anthology this time around allows for way more scary stories, sleepless nightmare-fueled nights and characters we can’t decide if we’re dying to save or facepalm at.
By the looks of the trailer (linked below), The Dark Pictures – Man Of Medan seems like it could focus on a hauntingly sinister presence that takes over the divers boat – made even more terrifying by the studios pristine / realistic graphics (that somehow managed to surpass how amazing Until Dawn already looked!?) and of course, excellent casting.
