True Detective Season 3 Gets It’s First Trailer

The third season of the anthology series, True Detective will return to HBO in January of 2019.

HBO has released the first trailer for the new season, which sees Mahershala Ali and Carmen Ejogo taking on the leading roles. This season the show will move to the Ozarks and follow a murder case that spans THREE DECADES, and will be split into three respective timelines.

Ali, who recently won an Oscar in 2017 for his support role in Moonlight, assumes the role of Wayne Hays. Hays is a detective from Arkansas that is plunged deep into a bizarre murder investigation. Stephen Dorff plays his partner, Roland West. The first two episodes are directed by Green Room director Jeremy Saulnier, while Niz Pizzalatto and Daniel Sackheim take care of the remaining six.

True Detective earned its place among the HBO greats back in 2014 with its debut season starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. However, the follow-up season received mixed reviews but starred Hollywood stars such as Colin Farrel, Vince Vaughn, and Rachel McAdams.
