Bandai Namco and DONTNOD Entertainment have unveiled a new trailer for their upcoming title, Twin Mirror, as well as revealing some gameplay mechanics.
Twin Mirror is an upcoming psychological thriller from DONTNOD Entertainment, the developers behind the hit episodic series, Life is Strange. Today, Bandai Namco has revealed two new gameplay features for the game, as well as confirming that the title will also be an episodic affair.
In Twin Mirror, lets players take the role of Sam, an investigative journalist returning home after the death of an old friend. Things take a dark turn when Sam wakes the next morning with a blood-stained shirt and no memory of what happened. Sam’s investigative instincts take over and decide to look for the truth, but as you can see in today’s trailer, he’s not alone in his mind.
Revealed in a trailer today is Sam’s “Mind Place”, a place in which he can access at any time to recreate memories from the past as well as piece together possible scenarios. It’ll be up to players to use this mechanic to jog Sam’s memories to get to the bottom of what happened the night before.
In addition, the trailer also reveals what DONTNOD are calling “The Double” a classy, smartly-dressed, and sarcastic version of Sam. But what we don’t know is whether he’ll be helpful, or a hindrance. Players will be battling with Sam’s instincts and his Double’s “guidance”.
“We are very excited to reveal two of our major gameplay features for Twin Mirror here at Gamescom,” said Fabrice Cambounet (Senior Producer for Twin Mirror). “We believe this is a good insight into our unique narrative approach, having gameplay features intertwined within the story we want to tell. We can’t wait for the players to uncover the secrets hidden in Twin Mirror with the first episode in 2019!”
