PlayFusion and Games Workshop have this week announced a brand new trading card game, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions, bringing Warhammer to the tabletop in a different way.
Let’s face it, playing and collecting Warhammer is an expensive hobby, with model kits beginning at a couple of dollars going all the way up to a couple of hundred as models get bigger and more complex. Let’s not even talk about time spent painting the things. But now, it might be easier to get involved with the rich world of Warhammer with Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions.
This new physical trading card game is available to play in stores across North America, Europe, and Australia, and has players building their own line up of Warhammer’s Champions and wage war against other players. With various different spells and abilities, players will need to think tactically to get ahead.
What makes Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions unique compared to other more popular trading card games are some of its innovative mechanics, such as rotating cards which change each turn, and the ability to take on quests which unlock blessings to boost players’ power. In addition, the game aims to be much quicker too, allowing players to get in on the action rather than spending a handful of turns building resources.
In addition to the physical game, PlayFusion is also releasing a digital game in which players can scan and claim their physical cards as well as apply for early access to the digital game’s beta.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions is available to play in-store now with an “on street” date set for August 2. Players will be able to purchase in Games Workshop, Warhammer, and other hobby stores.
