EA Games and DICE have revealed more information about their upcoming Battle Royale mode for Battlefield 5 including its name and how many players it’ll involve.
While big battle royale titles are host to 100 players battling it out until only one is left alive, many others have taken the less-is-more approach featuring battles between 10 to 30 players. According to DICE, Battlefield 5’s Battle Royale mode, now called Firestorm, will be slap-bang in the middle with 64.
This number is fairly unsurprising considering Battlefield’s conquest modes are host to two teams of 32 players, amounting to 64 total. These games are mostly pretty stable, and adding a free-for-all element to the mode will likely cause little stress when players all pile into the game mode at once.
With the Battlefield 5 open beta taking place this weekend, EA Games and DICE have released a new trailer which contains all of the above information, you can check it out below:
“Watch a deep dive on Battlefield V, including details on our new Battle Royale mode ‘Firestorm’, Single Player War Stories, Multiplayer maps and modes, and our free post-launch live service, Tides of War,” reads the trailer’s description. “This is World War 2 like you’ve never seen or played before. Welcome to Battlefield V.”
In other news, Battlefield 5 was recently delayed, pushing the game back almost a month to November 20.
