Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is hopping on the Battle Royale train with its upcoming Blackout mode. Developer Treyarch has revealed that the mode will start with a total of 80 players.
Speaking with Game Informer, co-studio head Dan Bunting confirmed the starting numbers for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout Mode: “We’re starting with 80 players, but we’ve gone higher than that.” The developer goes on to say that the upcoming beta is ‘the beginning of something’ and that the developer will ‘make changes and adapt’.
Meanwhile, the Call of Duty twitter account tweeted out an image of the map for the upcoming mode. Much like PUBG and Fortnite, the map is defined by named areas, such as the Hydro Dam, and Nuketown Island.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout Mode will also feature the series’ signature Zombies, set to spawn at certain points, vehicles, and a whole bunch of unique characters for players to hop into the shoes of. Treyarch is also testing the possibility of split-screen play for the mode.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout will hit beta September 10. this opens first for PS4 owners, and will require a pre-order to gain access. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set for release October 12 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
