Nintendo has confirmed that free-to-play games such as Fortnite will be playable on the Nintendo Switch without an active Nintendo Online Subscription.
Following rumors that free-to-play games would still require an active Switch Online subscription, Nintendo has released an official statement confirming that free-to-play games will remain free.
“Beginning September 18, 2018, a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to participate in co-op and competitive online features for many first- and third-party Nintendo Switch games, including Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Some games, such as Fortnite, can be played online without a Nintendo Switch membership.”
This is pretty good news for players of Fortnite as well as those looking forward to playing titles such as Arena of Valor or Warframe.
