Ahead of NYCC and MINECON Earth, Dark Horse has announced a brand new graphic novel based off of the hit sandbox game, Minecraft, along with the cover art for the comic.
Minecraft Volume One is the first officially licensed original graphic novel set in the world created by Mojang. Don’t expect to find Steve and the gang, however, as this comic features art from Kim Reaper artist Sarah Graley, and already looks pretty fantastic.
The graphic novel features a story from writer Sfé R. Monster (The Beyond Anthology, Seven Stories from the Sea) as well as letterer John J. Hill (Bedtime Games, Superman) to bring the world of Minecraft to life.
“We are very excited at the prospect of bringing Minecraft to comics,” said Dark Horse President and Founder Mike Richardson. “The world of Minecraft is vast with countless stories to tell. We look forward to working with the great people at Mojang AB and Microsoft to bring these stories to its enormous fan base.”
So what can we expect from Minecraft Volume One? The graphic novel is set to focus on “everyday kid” Tyler whose life gets turned upside down after his family moves away from his childhood town. Fortunately, Minecraft allows him to stay in touch with his friends Evan, Candace, Tobi, and Grace, and embark on adventures together across the overworld. And now it’s time for the Ultimate Quest, to get to The End and face the Ender Dragon.
Minecraft Volume One is set to hit shelves in Summer 2019 and can be pre-ordered now. This 80-page graphic novel retails for $9.99.
