Red Dead Online will be hitting consoles a month after the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar has revealed.

Red Dead Online is set to be an evolution of the classic multiplayer experience of the first title, blending narrative together with competitive and cooperative play. Using the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as a foundation, Red Dead Online will be explorable alone or with friends and feature constant updates akin to those of GTA Online.

Rockstar has announced via its Newswire that Red Dead Online is set to launch in November 2018, initially as a public beta. As with most online experiences of this size and scale, there will inevitably be some turbulence with the title’s launch, just hopefully not on the same scale as GTA Online. The reasoning for the ‘open beta’ launch is to allow players to help Rockstar “to develop Red Dead Online into something really fun and innovative.”

Access to Red Dead Online will be free to anyone with a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 on either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26.
