Telltale Games, the studio behind the popular The Walking Dead games, has been hit with a string of layoffs.
Telltale Games has been a studio often held in high regard for its titles. Sadly, as of late, the studio has been hit with more than its fair share of controversies. It came out that the studio was an environment filled with a toxic workflow, leading employees to constantly be overworked. Co-founder and former CEO Kevin Bruner has also sued the company seeking recovery for financial damages.
Last November the company laid off 90 employees, with CEO Pete Hawley stating at the time that “The realities of the environment we face moving forward demand we evolve, as well, reorienting our organization with a focus on delivering fewer, better games with a smaller team”
Telltale Games will retain a small team of around 25. It seems that the studio will be finishing up The Walking Dead, but all other projects are canceled. We’ll keep you updated as more develops.
Update: Telltale Games has confirmed the news on their Twitter account.
