The Summer Gaming Drought has officially come to an end with the launch of Marvel’s Spider-man for the PS4 which has shot into first place and becoming one of the fastest selling titles in the UK of 2018 so far.
Following Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy‘s epic run at the top all summer it’s nice to see some new entries into the top ten. While F1 2018 stole the crown for a couple of weeks, one of this quarter’s biggest titles, Marvel’s Spider-man has swooped in right to the top.
Being one of this year’s most anticipated titles it comes as no real surprise. What might be a surprise, however, is the game becoming the fastest selling video game in the UK so far this year, narrowly beating the previous record holder Far Cry 5. The game also sold almost double that of God of War.
Finally, it’s the fastest-selling Marvel branded title in history, absolutely destroying previous record holder LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. If that wasn’t all, the game also became the fastest selling individual format title since Call of Duty: WW2 on the PS4 last year.
Elsewhere in the charts, we see another new entry in the form of Square Enix’s Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age which lands in second place. This is followed by Destiny 2: Forsaken – the re-release of Destiny 2 with all DLC and the Forsaken expansion bundled into one, landing in eighth place.
