Epic Games has released the patch notes for Fortnite 6.01 which introduces a brand new trap type, additional Playground options, and Save the World content.
With Season 6 only just launching, its pretty surprising that Epic Games has released even more content for Fortnite this week, but hey, we’re not complaining. On the top of the docket this week is the new Chiller Trap. This is a Common Trap which can be placed on floors, walls, or ceilings.
The Chiller Trap drops in stacks of three in Treasure Chests, Supply Drops, Vending Machines, Supply Llamas, and of course littering the floors. What the trap actually does is applies “icy feet” to friends or foes causing them to slide around with low friction.
It’ll be interesting to see whether this trap actually hinders players, or whether it’ll be used to get across sections of the map quicker or get away from others.
In addition, Patch 6.01 comes with additional options to the game’s Playground mode allowing players to change settings such as starting health, time of day, gravity, and more.
Interestingly, this patch brings more content to Save the World rather than Battle Royale, so maybe Epic Games are listening to us Safe the World players? Anyway, the first change is that Keep Out!!!’s damage area has been increased.
There’s also a new Lead Sled Hammer added to the Weekly Store, a fast swinging hammer which gains speed with each hit. It also comes with a Leap Attack. This hammer is available from today until October 10.
Adding to that a new Obliterator Sniper Rifle added to the Weekly Store. Its shots pierce through walls and husks and can quickly destroy structures. Again, this rifle is available from today through to October 10.
The patch also comes with a handful of fixes for Save the World. You can read the full patch notes over on the game’s website.
