20th Century Fox has delayed a number of its upcoming titles, the company announced earlier this week, including Alita: Battle Angel, Dark Phoenix, and of course, Gambit.
At this point, we’re unsure if X-Men spin-off Gambit will ever hit theatres as it’s been delayed a number of times. We have found out recently that it’ll take a more romantic comedy approach, but not we’ll have to wait even longer to see what that actually looks like. Gambit is now delayed until March 13, 2020.
As for Dark Phoenix, originally set to launch on February 14, 2019, Alita: Battle Angel will be taking its place instead. Now, Dark Phoenix has a summer release of June 7, 2019. Alita: Battle Angel was due to hit theatres on December 21, 2018 but instead has been replaced by the PG-13 version of Deadpool 2.
All of these movies have been constantly pushed back by 20th Century Fox, so here’s hoping that they settle on these dates. That being said, with both Gambit and Dark Phoenix being Marvel properties, and the upcoming deal between Disney and 20th Century Fox expected to close in early 2019, things could drastically change as these movies could be absorbed into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
