Obsidian might well be snapped up by Microsoft if rumors are to be believed, although it seems both sides are being a little cryptic about it all.
Obsidian might well be snapped up by Microsoft, as a few spokespeople close to the companies have stated. Speaking to Kotaku, one person with knowledge of the deal state that it was “90%” finished. A second person stated that “It’s a matter of when, not if.” Now of course, deals can, and often do, fall apart on the final hours, but this pickup would be incredible for both Microsoft and Obsidian.
Microsoft and Obsidian have both made statements, with varying degrees of comedy.
“We do not comment on rumors or speculation,” a Microsoft spokesperson stated.
“Unfortunately, we don’t comment on rumors or speculation other than to say that the Rumors album by Fleetwood Mac still holds up,” Responded Obsidian, in a much more comical statement.
The acquisition would be one of many that Microsoft has made this year, including Playground Games, responsible for the recent racer, Forza Horizon 4, and Ninja Theory the team behind Hellblade. It also seems that Microsoft is keen to bolster its PC title list, which the team over at Obsidian would fit into perfectly.
So what do you think? Should Microsoft snap up Obsidian? Or should Bethesda grow some nuts and let them make another Fallout title? Let us know in the comments below!
