Netflix has announced that Luke Cage won’t be getting a third season as the show has been canceled.

This news follows on from the recent cancellation of Iron Fist, which Netflix announced last week, wouldn’t be getting renewed. This is surprising considering Marvel recently addressed the state of its shows on Netflix adding nothing about Luke Cage receiving a similar end as Iron Fist.

“Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season,” Netflix and Marvel said in a joint statement. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reason for the cancelation of this show is due to “creative differences” and a failure to agree on terms for a third season.

This news, of course, leaves just two of The Defenders left on Netflix with many wondering whether Jessica Jones will be the next show to get the chop.
