Samurai VS Demons is a shockingly under-represented genre. After missing out on the initial 2001 PlayStation 2 release, I am hotly anticipating the high-definition upgrade of the historical survival horror Onimusha: Warlords.
Initially imagined by series creator Yoshiki Okamoto’s as an idea for a Sengoku Biohazard (a Resident Evil spinoff set in the feudal past of Japan) and later blossoming into its own distinct and top-rated series, with over eight million copies sold across four games.
Onimusha takes a scroll from Resident Evil’s library in terms of setting, pacing and control style (focusing on swords rather than guns). You either control Samanosuke or sometimes his assistant, the ninja, Kaede slicing demons back to the netherworld and absorbing their souls.
In anticipation of the ever nearing release, Capcom has dropped another trailer, this time showcasing Samanosuke’s silky sword skills and armors. Check it out it below.
Onimusha: Warlords will be released worldwide January 15, 2019. Stay tuned to n3rdabl3 for all your undead slaying news, reviews and rumours.
